Kiva.org - Social loans that change lives
Note: Kiva lets you lend small amounts of money to a specific entrepreneur in the developing world, empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty! Your loan is repaid within a few months and you can cash out or lend it to another entrepreneur. This rapidly growing service is getting lots of major press, from PBS to the Wall Street Journal. Also, KivaFriends.org is a new site for users and supporters of the concept.
